Want to take a hyper link vacation? Why not visit the world online, virtually.

Google Maps is one of the coolest tools I've ever seen. It's a collection of satellite photographs sewn together and combined with maps to provide an awesome multi-use information tool. As a map alone, it's usefulness is complete, but we've found that we love the satellite imagery and the hybrid map/photo combination feature.

Maybe it's corny, but one rainy evening, instead of trudging through the cold on our date, my wife and I decided to visit the Eiffel Tower, Grand Canyon, and the Pyramids of Egypt. I remember it well... "Should we rent a movie?, ...watch television?, ...do a puzzle? Hey, why not visit the pyramids, or Notre Dame?" Romantic?, ...well, ok, at least it was educational.

So, we thought we'd assemble our list of favorites and solicit input from others with better taste and experience than our own. Here's a list of our favorite places, and some shortcuts to finding them in the maps. Please send us your favorite places and we'll try to add them. Also, thanks so much to Google for making such an incredible resource available. By the way, their use of Ajax technology (the dragging feature the map uses to dynamically update the visible portion of the map without having to reload the page) is yet another example of why Google is so loved in the technology community! In so many ways they are a great example of what a company -can- be.
